Army lists will be live the next day for viewing. Any army lists that do not include correct details or are submitted late will be penalised accordingly.
Each team may use each codex once as per ATC guidelines Payment: Payment secures your spot, there will be 32 player spots (8 Teams) available for this event. The cost is $160 per team Please reference team name with purchase.
Battle Scoring & Pairings. Game Scoring: Each round will be scored out of 80, with each player returning a score to the team between 0 and 20. Players will play the rulebook missions and will compare their VP to their opponents at the end of the game. EG: Michael and Jeremy play a game. Michael scores 85 to Jeremy’s 54. Michael has a VP differential of 31 points. In this situation Michael’s team would score 16 and Jeremy would score 4. Round Scoring: Round scoring is scored between 0 and 80. A team will win the round if they score 44 or more Battle Points. A round is a draw if the team has scored between 37 and 43 Battle Points. A round is a loss if the team has scored 36 or fewer battle points.
Pairings: If this is your first time playing in a 4-man team format this will be new, however this is adapted directly from the pairings format used in many events around Australia. It is the role of the team captain to complete the pairings process with the assistance of one playing team member.
1. Both captains select one list secretly to be their champion and place it to one side.
2. Both captains roll a dice.
3. The lowest rolling captain (captain puts forward a list.
4. The Higher rolling captain (captain A) matches a list against the list put forward with captain B picking the table they will play on.
5. Captain A then puts a list forward.
6. Captain B then matches a list against this with captain A choosing the table.
7. The two unmatched players play on a table chosen by captain B.
8. The champion lists are matched and play on the last table.
Missions, Presentation, Team Pairings and In-Game Administration Missions: The missions for each round will be released ahead of time via the Game Center Facebook Page and will be paired
Rd 1 mission tbc
Rd 2 mission tbc
Rd 3 mission tbc
In-Game Administration: The team captain is responsible for entering all scores in to BCP. If arguments among players arrive, there will be someone available to make a judge’s call, however both players must first ask their team captain for clarification on the rule. If the 2 captains cannot agree on an amicable way to resolve the debate it will be referred to a judge. Excessive wasting of time by a team through this process will be penalised with a round loss. The captain may ask other players during the round how their game is going and the score they expect to receive, the captain may also repeat this to other players on the team and communicate the score they require their players to get.
The captain may not tell their players what to do, or how to achieve the score. Other players on the team may also ask each other how their games are going but may not communicate solutions to problems or advise them on how to do anything. If a player hears an opponent on another table making a rules mistake, or doing something they believe to be incorrect, they may alert their team captain.
Please note only a single codex can be used per Team.
Part of the entry fee will be going toward the NSW ATC terrain fund ( one of these tables will be at the event to see) as we are looking at growing the quality of events in the state and the gaming experiences.

Courage of Numenor: Siege of Osgiliath

Date: 19th and 20th February 2022

Rounds: Four rounds

Point Value: 400 points

Cost: $25

Additional Information:

Additional Information can be found on the Australian Middle Earth Page or the Courage of Numenor: Siege of Osgiliath event page ( You will need to join the australian page to access the event). (https://fb.me/e/1QFnZUDey)

Tables: All games are to be played on a 4x4 table.

Army Lists need to be submitted to google form (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeW4FLbNAE_Q7FcNzjWXHti3D7gj_9cXfjn-J3vdc4poWl1bg/viewform?usp=pp_url) one week prior to the event. Lists may be released prior to the date. Any list submitted after this date will lose 10 points for their team.

Painting: All models are encouraged to have 3 colours minimum and a base colour. A Best painted vote will be conducted by the players during the event.

Sportsmanship

Players are expected to show their best behaviour at the event. This includes being respectful to all players, and ensuring players play in a fair and appropriate manner.

What Army Can I use:

All armies may be used and will be split into either good (i.e. Gondor, Dwarfs, Elves etc) or Evil (Mordor, Isengard, Harad) based on what they are in the relevant sourcebooks.

Some forces may instead take the form of traitor or mercenary forces. Players may elect to join this force upon registration or will be asked to join this force to balance each side.

Force that will be considered to balance forces out include: Minas Tirith, Rohan, The Rangers, Arnor, Dwarven Holds, The Easterlings, Viags of Khand, Serpent Horde, and Isengard.

How the day will work

Planning Phase:

Teams will meet up and elect a captain and/or lieutenants. Teams will then discuss the relevant missions and allocated tables. To do this, the captain will allocate players to particular tables or scenarios that would benefit their side's campaign. Once this has been decided, it will be given to the relevant TO who will approve the campaign orders (It will be rejected in the case of two players, previously playing OR being allocated to the same table).

Players will also be assigned a number of siege assets. The captain or representative will collect this from the TO. This will come in the form of barricades, rallying calls, terrifying bonuses, and siege engine support.

Game Phase:

During this phase you will decide on the mission with your opponent. To do this players will refer to the Table Grid and remove up to two conditions. Starting with the winning side player, you may select one square from the left hand side, or pass. It is best to place a model or dice on the space to identicate that it can't be selected anymore. The losing side player will then do the same. Both sides may then do this one more time. Once each player have had the option twice, consult the chart to determine your mission.  The last square in any row may not be selected.

For example: Boromir selects to remove the Fog of War Mission and places a dice on it. Gothmog then decides he doesn't wish to play the Contest of Champions and places a dice on it.  Boromir does not like the Eyrie Sounds bonus so decided to remove it. Gothmog, with his last choice, decides to pass, leaving the Clear Conditions as the mission conditions.

Clean Up Phase:

Players will submit their results and prepare their forces for the next game. Return any non table assets to the TO table.

If your leader was wounded, make note of the model that caused the wound (or death) and gain the hatred rule against them.

Campaign Points

The field of osgiliath is in constant conflict between the forces of Gondor and the servants of Mordor. To represent this conflict each side will gain points throughout games to determine the outcome of osgiliath. These points are achieved by:

  • Achieving a win or draw during a game.

  • Completing secret missions during games

Players will contribute the following points:

Win - 100 points

Draw - 50

Secret Objectives - 50 points

The team with the highest score will become the Attacker, while the lower score will be designated the Defender.

Secret Objectives:

Not every hero has been tasked with taking or holding the great city. Some are destined for more sinister or more heroic deeds. Before the game the team will assign a number of secret missions to players on their team. These missions will feature a mix of capturing enemies, killing enemies or destroying supplies.

Slay the leaders

Kill all the opponents hero’s while having one left.

Assassination

Select one hero before rolling for the first turn. Kill the hero during the game.

Hold the line

Keep your hero and a banner alive until the end of the game.

Strike the Head

Your leader gains the Heroic Challenge rule. Challenge the enemy leader. If they decline or they are slain by your character, achieve this objective.

Vanguard

Slay 75% of the enemy while remaining unbroken.

Supplies:

Commanders may spend supply points on the following:

Barricades  - A barricade will provide a D6 2W wall on the table. This may be attacked, or used as a defensive barricade. At the end of the game, the model stays in on the spot unless removed.

Catapult Shot - Prior to the game, you must inform your opponent you have a catapult shot. Failure to do so will ensure the shot automatically misses. To use the catapult shot, select an enemy model and roll on the scatter table. Resolve the shot as intended. Once the shot is resolved place a ruin shot on the battlefield.

Walkway - You may place one walkway before the game. This will allow models to move more freely across the battlefield. A walkway may be destroyed by shooting or infantry models. It counts as having D6 and W2.

Rally point - place a suitable 25mm base in your deployment zone. This marker will count as a heavy object and apply the bonus while a model of a not carrying it. While deployed any model within 3” gains the benefits of a banner and +1 courage

“I wish it had not come to this”

If your force is led by a unnamed hero and has the title of ‘captain’, ‘chieftain’, ‘king’ or ‘shaman’ you may upgrade your character to have +1 might, +1 Will and +1 Fate for free. This model will be upgraded to a Hero of Valor.

A Hero may instead decide to become a shaman/wizard replacing their Might for 2, Will for 4 and Fate for 2. (This includes the bonus above). The model will also change its armour type to armour (for a defence of 5) and gain the spell Transfix (5+) and Fury (3+).  The model will also replace its Heroic March with Heroic Channel.

In addition, you may spend up to ‘4’ leader points to gain the following traits for your character. This is to represent the uniqueness of your leader on the field of battle. Each Trait has a points value assigned to it which must be added to the character.  Troll Chieftains may not be selected to benefit from these rules.

For example an Orc Captain purchases a shield and warg for a total of 55 points. The Orc then decides to purchase the Expert Rider (+10 points), Heroic Strength (+5 Points) and Horselord (+5 Points) traits. This will bring the total cost of the Captain to 75 points.
